In Memoriam, Elizabeth New Seitz

Dear French Affaires Friends,

Elizabeth New Seitz passed away on 23 September 2021. It was a tragic loss for me, her husband, and all her many French Affaires friends, among others. She fought bravely, just as she did with everything in her life.

Elizabeth and I married in 2009 and shortly thereafter, with my enthusiastic encouragement, she started French Affaires. I have had the joy and the privilege to journey alongside her. We moved to France in 2015 and this only increased our love for, and hands-on commitment to, the French Affaires vision. Many of you will have visited us in our Courances home, replete with Elizabeth’s garden, prized antiques, and of course our French Pointer, M. Marcel. The Chateau of Courances was our backdrop as well as the Church next door.

During this time new trips were conceived and launched. Two trips to Burgundy successfully unfolded in the Fall of 2021. It has been a joy to see Elizabeth’s hard work come into full blossom. Corsica was another successful addition (prior to the rise of covid). We had discussed further new additions, and I have some thoughts that come alongside that dreaming.

Of course, the perennial favorites remain as a legacy to her deep investments: finding the right guides, selecting good restaurants and menus, properly calculating distances and logistics, choosing just the right surprising boutique moment – that was her hallmark. Those of you who have traveled with her to Provence, Normandy, SW France, Paris and on her tailor-made excursions, know well what I mean.

It was her wish that this deep investment and love of France continue. Over the years we have identified so many talented guides and friends in France to help make her trips one-of-a-kind. All of that remains in place, a testimony to her hours and years of loving development.

We are shortly off to the “Paris at the Holidays” 2021 trip. Please follow along as French Affaires continues.

No one can replace Elizabeth, but fortunately she has left behind her the French Affaires we all know and love. My desire is that her dream lives on.
